Organic Sesame Oil 5L

Sesame oil is the foundation oil of classical Ayurveda. Warming, grounding, deeply nourishing, it has been used for Abhyanga (traditional warm oil self-massage), scalp care, and oil preparations for thousands of years. Most classical Thailams are built on a sesame oil base.

This 5L pack is for serious home practitioners, small Ayurvedic clinics, and anyone who has made daily oiling a settled part of their practice. The oil is cold-pressed from certified organic sesame seeds grown in India, where the tradition began and where the quality of the seed still holds. Nothing added. Nothing removed.

A single-ingredient product, as Ayurveda intended. Use it warm for Abhyanga before bathing, for an evening foot massage, for scalp and hair oiling, or as the carrier for your own herbal infusions and classical preparations.

Directions for Use

Warm a portion of the oil gently before use, either in a bain-marie or an oil warmer. Apply to clean skin or scalp and massage with steady, even pressure. For Abhyanga, allow fifteen to twenty minutes for absorption before bathing in warm water. Use daily as part of Dinacharya (daily Ayurvedic self-care routine), or as needed for scalp and hair oiling.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, use within twelve months. Decant smaller working quantities into a clean glass bottle to avoid contaminating the main container.

Is this the same oil used in Art of Vedas Thailams?

The Thailams are formulated using sesame oil of the same origin and quality grade. This 5L pack gives you the base oil on its own, for daily Abhyanga or for your own classical preparations.

Can I use this oil for cooking?

No. This is a cosmetic-grade product for external use only. It is not packaged or certified for food use.

Why is the bottle so large?

Daily Abhyanga uses meaningful quantities. A practitioner running Panchakarma or doing daily oil practice will work through smaller bottles quickly. The 5L size lasts longer, costs less per litre, and reduces packaging waste.

How long does the oil keep once opened?

Twelve months from opening, stored cool and away from light. Decant working quantities into a smaller clean bottle and keep the main container sealed.

Is the oil suitable for sensitive skin?

Sesame oil is well tolerated by most skin types when applied externally. If you have a known sesame allergy, do not use this product. Otherwise, patch test on the inner forearm 24 hours before first use.

Is this product certified organic?

Yes. The sesame seeds are certified organic to India Organic (NPOP).
